Leaving Your Comfort Zone

In our final blog post, we profiled one of our own BGSU colleagues who has decided to leave his home state of Ohio and move across the country to Los Angeles to pursue his dream career.  While apprehensive to live so far away from his family and friends, senior Brandon Bookatz knows L.A. is the place he needs to be to fulfill his aspirations of being a movie producer.  Watch as we talk to Brandon about why he chose L.A., what prepared him for the big move, and what he will miss most about his life in Ohio. The photos in the slideshow document his cross-country trip last summer from Ohio to California, and the memories he captured while interning in L.A.

Check out Brandon's travels on this interactive map featuring links to some of the sights he visited on his adventure across the country.

If you would like to see examples of Brandon's work check out the videos he created while an undergrad at BGSU.  View these videos and more on Brandon's Facebook page.

Taylor's Last Post

As the holiday season is upon us that can only mean one thing for a college student....FINALS. If you are a college senior this means crunch time and a level of input you are not exactly willing to make as you feel a severe case of "senioritis” set in.

Seeing as this semester is coming to an end it also means the end of our lovely blog. Kayla will be graduating in the next few weeks and begin taking the next steps in her career, as I try my hand at my last internship of my college career.

I hope our blog has led you to some interesting resource material as well as provided you with both entertaining and informative advice from our own personal experiences. I have thoroughly enjoyed writing this blog, which has led me to a deeper reflection of my college experience thus far, while mentally preparing me for my future that lies ahead.

I would also like to say thank you to all of our twitter followers and facebook sharers. We greatly appreciate your support and input over these past few months. While we have come to the end of the road, we do have yet one last post for you, our readers, followers and collegiate conenxion enthusiasts.

We have created one final online story which will be published next week that profiles a BGSU student not only taking the plunge in his career, but leaving his comfort zone of the flatlands of Ohio and traveling to Los Angeles, California. We hope to spotlight his adventure as inspiration to all those graduating seniors about to take on their own dreams!

Happy holidays everyone!

Kayla's Last Post

With Thanksgiving already behind us and Christmas quickly approaching, there's a lot on everyone's minds concerning family, friends, and of course, school.  With my graduation ceremony almost two weeks away, I'm personally starting to feel pressures I've never felt before from all aspects of my life.  However despite these anxieties, I do feel that BGSU, my parents, and the experiences I have had that last four years of my life have prepared me for this epic moment.

I hope you, too, are feeling somewhat prepared to take on this next step of your life, aka the real world.  I hope this blog has helped you face some of the trials and tribulations that senior year of college brings, and I thank you for letting Taylor and I be part of your journey : )

With that said, embrace every moment you have left of "the best years of your life".  Whether it is a semester, a year, or a few weeks, take in every moment because soon your college life will be gone forever.  Luckily, the memories, experiences, and friendships you've made here will last a lifetime.

As I enter into my new phase of life, I will try to update you guys on my life and happenings. I wish everyone a safe holiday and a happy new year!
